Privacy Policy

AI Detector is a Chrome extension that estimates whether text is likely AI-generated or human-written. This policy explains what data the extension handles and why.

What we process

• Text you choose to check. When you paste text into the side panel or select text and choose “Check if AI wrote this”, that text is sent for analysis. Nothing is sent until you take one of these actions.
• Your IP address. It is used by our server only to limit the number of checks per minute and prevent abuse.
• A random installation ID. The extension creates a random identifier when you first run a check and sends it with each check. It is not linked to your name, email, Google account, or device, and is used only for anonymous usage statistics (see below).

The extension does not read pages you visit, does not track your browsing, and does not collect your name, email address, or account information.

How it is processed

The text goes to our server (a Cloudflare Worker), which forwards it to TypeSafe AI for analysis and returns the result to the extension. We do not store the text you check. Cloudflare processes requests to run the service and may keep standard operational logs.

TypeSafe AI processes the text under its own Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement.

Usage statistics

For each check we record the installation ID, the time, whether the check succeeded (or why it failed), the extension version, and the browser language. We do not record the text or your IP address. We use this only to count how many installations use the extension, how many checks are made, and how often checks fail.

These records are stored in Cloudflare D1. Individual records are deleted after 90 days; after that we keep only daily totals that contain no installation IDs. Uninstalling the extension deletes the installation ID from your browser; reinstalling creates a new one.

What we don’t do

• We do not sell or rent your data.
• We do not use your data for advertising or to build profiles.
• We do not use your data for anything other than providing the AI-text check.

Data stored on your device

When you use the context menu, the selected text is kept briefly in the extension’s session storage so the side panel can pick it up, then removed. It is cleared when the browser closes.

The installation ID is kept in the extension’s local storage until you uninstall the extension.
